Handicraft Nepal

Handicraft has been the Nepalese oldest way of exploring creativity. Nepal has shown its face in third country through the diversified culture. When I was in US I heard that the cultural show was conducted and it was followed by the lunch as the traditional food of Nepal.

HANDICRAFT NEPAL is one emerging company which has aggressive advertisement in International Market. As my work in Nepal was about the handicraft I was happy to hear that handicraft promotion has been done in huge amount. I went to the site of the HANDICRAFT NEPAL and saw the product. It also has the facility of the online buying and selling. I could see the product that are made of Bamboo as table and chair with different color and size that are suitable in different restaurants.

There were article of different people in the website.  I came to read one of them and it was from Canada. The person is Joy and he has bought the chairs from HANDICRAFT NEPAL and after the day of purchase, he placed in his restaurant. It was comfortable to sit and unique. After a week Joy’s restaurant was full of the visitors and his business was in Boom. He expanded his business and he would like to thank HANDICRAFT NEPAL for making such a chairs. He also purchased the other decorative handicrafts which were demanded by the visitors and he also started selling those through HANDICRAFT NEPAL taking no commission charge.

I saw the products and some so unique and admirable. The focus is to use of Natural resources wisely. Some products are made of wasted plastic and usually it is sold in environment friendly organizations. I became curious to know about the organization’s detail.

It was around few days after I was back in Nepal. My friend Harry wanted to get something that belongs to Nepal. I went to the site of the HANDICRAFT NEPAL. I found the address and in admiring words there was the figure of “Pancha Baja”. This was the traditional orchestra of Nepal that used to perform during the Marriage ceremony. The set was to be sold along with the documentary of the evolution of the music and about the culture. I showed the instruments to Harry.

As we got the address of HANDICRAFT NEPAL Patandhoka, we started our journey. We went to the show room. The showroom was large enough and the product is placed along with its features, which made us easy to understand about the product and its origin. Harry chooses different ancient musical instruments and I bought one Sarangi. We went out of the show room and there was information center at the side. Books, CDs and collection of the article was available there.

Before going I saw someone who I recognized, with same kind of hairstyle and improvised Nepali dress. He parked his car and was about to enter to the HANDICRAFT NEPAL. I was little confused and he didn’t recognize me.

I called ,”Saroj!”. He looked and took off his sunglasses. He still became confused as I was with beard and no eyeglasses. I said “ma Pradeep Ho..”
Saroj: Pradeep? Kun Pradeep?
Me: Sangai college padako hoina?
Saroj: A a yo po rai6..
Let’s go in.
I agreed and went with him.
He straightly went to the office of Manager and I asked if there was any work with manager and Saroj said ,”Ma ta ho ni Manager…”

And I was surprised a bit. He said after he was back after his MBA I thought of doing what I enjoy and talked to father. He said, “my father helped me a lot to find the product, investors and even market. We are growing day by day. We want to make identity of Nepal.”

We talked for a while and Harry also asked many things about the entrepreneurship and life of different artists. Harry was interested to make the documentary of Artist and talked about it with saroj. I could see his table and chairs and other objects in his room, it was all made of bamboo and reflects something of Nepal in each product. Saroj wanted to join the lunch together and we went after the lunch back to home.

Facts:
1.       The share form Saroj family was 25% and rest of HANDICRAFT NEPAL was by other investors.
2.       Now there are different stalls in Five star hotel of Nepal. Saroj is planning to set the different store in foreign countries. He is also seeking the appropriate Marketing Personal to his work.
3.       Saroj was gaining weight and is in relationship with the girl of Italy. Within 2/3 months she is opening the store of HANDICRAFT NEPAL there in Italy.
4.       The interesting thing is she calls Saroj as Suku Darling. Saroj dreams of being with her in Nepal but she wants Saroj to be in Italy with her.
5.       Saroj is being facilitated by the Foreign Ministry and given the Brand Ambassador of Tourism Nepal.

Hamro NMB Ko BM Nimesh

I was glad to see Nimesh Ghimire in Khadbari. I could remember the song that he sang during the Tour in 7th semester..”Lasun Piyaaj… KhadbariNMB launched its 88th branch in September 2017 at Khadbari deciding Supervisor of the bank Nimesh Ghimire as Branch manager in Khadbari.

The bank had all service in the branch. The branch will be run by 8 staff including Nimesh(BM). I had to run through my international friends to visit Nepal and my one destination happened in to Khadbari as our vehicle mal-functioned early in the morning. I already knew from other friends about the Nimesh and it was near as well. We caught public vehicle and went to the Khadbari. The weather was hot and intolerable.

I talked to the guard of the office and entered and asked the receptionist to let me meet with the BM of the bank. She said sir is out for a while. It took Mr. Ghimire 45minutes to come to office. I could recognize the walking style and now he is in Black suit. His hair style has been changed and they said the unique nature of him is he wears shoe made in Pakistan only.

Before the entrance of Nimesh, I observed the bank and it was good, well facilities, different departments, and well parking area. The office of the BM is up in 2nd floor. The working area was also good and was eco friendly. There is high flow of the clients and customers. The master card has been distributed by NMB bank also and many people are curious about it.

As Nimesh entered, the guard said there are many people to meet and the Nimesh said, ”ra ta”. I smiled and he is still the same. Guard showed us and again Nimesh was unable to recognize me. I stood up and said, “Pradeep Parajul and we are BBA mates. They are my friends for different part of the world”

He called all of us in his room. It was big and nice. He dialed a number and said, “6 cold drinks, very fast!!”. We started talking and Nimesh was happy to work in this area. He said, “Afno gaun ma kaam nagarne ho vhani kasari develop hun6? Then I thought about it lot. I talked to the seniors and they decided to open new branch here.” He added, “I am very passionate about it.”  He added, “NMB ma ramro impression rakhna sakiyo in Intern period ani tes pa6i ta yestai ho!!”

The scheme was the loan for the youth who wants work here easily and properly. “I am planning to attract and help the person who really wants to work”, he added.

We left after out jeep was made and Nimesh said, “Maasu Khayara ja sale!!”(slang word inside the bank) But we didn’t have that enough time and we went.

Mr. Gyawali (Social Entrepreneur & Political Leader)

Now days I have started watching news in television. The standard of Nepalese news deliberation has been changing these days. The style of presenting report and the videos related to it has been changing.
After I watched the news then it came in the advertisement that tonight 9pm with Bishwambhar Gyawali. I thought there are so many people called Bishwambhar but there are very few whose name is exactly Bishwambhar Gyawali. And I said myself that “Mitra ko ta babaal pragati baya6!!”.

Do you know how did the interview begin?
It was like this:

-Today we have very intellectual person that has been contributing Nepal in the field of politics as well as entrepreneurship. He has transport company and more than 500 hectors of land where different people work as farmer to grow the crops. He has created the organic market in different city of Nepal. The good thing about him is to whom he had said to grow the particular crop and didn’t get the place to sell then he buys himself and markets it, if not sold also he pays full money to that farmer.  This is how the people know him.
On the other side he is involved in politics and his view is Youth should be involved in the main stream of the politics. He completed his political science from India and currently doing his E-MBA as well. He focuses and gives various ideas about the economic growth of Nepal. His article has influenced number of youth here in Nepal. Even many has been returning from abroad to Nepal listening his view.

“Let us start the interview”

“Mr. Gyawali, how are you?”
-          I am fine. Things are being good and I am hopeful.

“How is your business?”
-          It is growing day by day as youth charm has increased in agriculture. Now we are lunching scientific way of farming which will help in upcoming days. Till date we are in good position. There are few products that are really turning the situation better.
(Bishwambhar has gained more weight and looks exactly our X-King Gyanandra.)

“How many years are you in business field?”
-          It has become 3 years now. My business has gone up due to the reason that youth in agriculture is very less and today it is basic need in each and every house of the nation. This was definitely necessary. We need to promote what we have and this is one of the easiest ways to move forward. See every people love it and any one can work easily in the field of agriculture.

Don’t you think you are following the old civilization?”
-          I definitely don’t think so. Social entrepreneur is simply the way of fulfilling the gap of the society with innovative idea. My idea is to involve youth in agriculture and uplift the low level of people. Now we are starting the scientific technique. 10 staffs will be provided trainings form Nepal and they will go to India and Canada. After 6 month we will start new venture lead by these 10 people.

“You are also involved in Politics. How are you able to manage the time?”
-          Yes it is hard to manage the time but is not impossible. I have reached to village and rural part of the country and I am able to feel their pain. Still there are number of people who don’t have access to medicine, electricity, transportation and still number of children is unable to read due to their housework. There are many things to do here in Nepal and I have that courage to work. Time management is what I have learned these days. If we manage we have enough time if not then we don’t have time to do anything. My social connection has been less these days and I focus in agriculture and I dream of international market soon.

“What are your upcoming plans?”
I have divided into two categories. One is investing and making better agriculture business and the other is supporting by finance to the youth who have idea and work himself in the field of agriculture. I focus to those people who are really need of the fund.

“We have come to the end of the program. So if you have any words to the people then you can say.”
-          I want to ask to people that,”what do you feel when seeing what I am doing? Is it right or wrong and what should I do? How can I change the society? Please, Please give me suggestions?
And thank you for reading my articles and feedback given you has really improved me. Hope to get more and more feedbacks. Thank you for watching and listening me..

(I have never seen Bishwambhar being such a humble person)

“Thank you Mr. Gyawali that you have arranged your busy schedule and came to the Interview.”
“He was Bishwambhar Gyawali a youth politician and social entrepreneur of Nepal. His contribution has been admired by young politician over the world”

After the interview also I tried to contact and meet him but he was so busy. I could only hear from others about him and I also read his articles. His focuses on the national issue and he attains few social programs. He has learned different agricultural techniques that has been implementing in other part of the world.

Facts:

1.       The newspaper wrote once that Mr. Gyawali is going to marry the Indian lady where he had affair during his master’s program. The name of New bhauju is Renku.
2.       He was supported by other youth politician Gagan Thapa for first year of the business and Thapa left that he knew many things now he will be successful very soon. In case of any help I am always ready for him.
3.       Sometimes his photo comes in Newspaper with different models.
4.       He has become the National Figure.
5.       He was admired by many people for his leadership quality.
6.       He didn’t have time to meet me as well and the only way of communication was exchanging e-mails.

Rosario Café

I was back in Nepal and it was October 18th, 2017 and the day after I was trying to visit Pashupati Temple. I was moving towards temple then I saw a beautiful café named Rosario Café with different color. I can’t stop entering then. I parked my bike in parking which was quite big. It was clean and there were posters of different players. The football players seem amazing in the parking area.

I sat in a chair and waiter came to me and left menu. Mo:mo has been the best for me and I ordered it. The price was Rs 380 per plate. On the last part of the menu it was written fell free to stay as long as you can and there in snookers at the top, if you wish to play.

Rosario Cafe

The interesting thing that in these past few years was I learned how to play snookers. I asked waiter to bring mo:mo in the snooker hall. After 4 complete floors then I could find big hall. 8 different snooker boards and lots of players, and blues music on background. I loved it. As I went towards the board then the staff came near and said, “Sir the game is on and it is all pack, if you like there is rooftop.” I went up and it was beautiful garden there.

I could see Kathmandu form there. Till that time mo:mo was on my side and along with mo:mo there was soup as well. Before 8 years I used to get soup with mo:mo. The test was completely “YEMMYYYYYYY !!!”. Now I was in love with ROSARIO CAFÉ.

I felt things change and it change for different cause. The customer satisfaction was best part of all the changes and the focus goal as well. Before leaving the café then the guard said, “Today is special day for us and tonight we have celebration sir, It would be wonderful if you come “ . I smiled and said, ”let me see tonight”.

I have love the café and I need the different cause to go in. I have made my plans according and planned to go to café again at night. The time given was 6pm but I was there at 7:30pm. People are talking about the other outlets. 5 outlets at once is probably huge investment. People was happy and discussing with each other.

I was confused and asked the guard and he said, “sir the official announcement just finished and its party time.” Form behind someone was producing sound, “It was small announcement Pradeep!” The sound I could definitely recognized by me and he has become the singer as well. Mr. Sijan Pokhrel.  The guard said, “Malik Saab”. Sijan said, “a beer for the gentleman !!”

WOW!!  WOW!! I have heard his song 3 years back and I am so lucky to meet him in his own ROSARIO CAFÉ.

After beer, he said, “la aba tha guirar baja ma geet gau6u!, Mero album ko geet haru ma guitar ko flavor dharo hannu paryo kya… hahahaha!! Mathi bar ma concert hun6, lets go!!”.  It was going to be the amazing time of my life. Sijan Pokhrel owner of  a beautiful café, with completely amazing innovations, and Messi around the walls, including the stage for small programs.

Facts:
1.      He was already married and Bhauju was Marketing manager.
2.      The name of the café was written in the name of birthplace of Messi- Rosario.
3.      He has put his special dish as “Banggay Dish”
4.      The outlet will be opened in 5 different places of Kathmandu and planning to open in India as well.
5.      His weight was 97kg (Dharo Motaya6 sathi ta!!)
6.      He is in process of releasing his second album. He also agreed to sing a song that I had composed.

Nepali Bhancha Ghar

I have heard about the Nepali Bhancha Ghar in Canada. The Bhancha Ghar is three star hotels. The hotel has the Nepali style of food and living style. There are many pictures of mountain, Nepali handicraft, and special Nepali food item.

Nepali Bhancha Ghar is also famous for Gundruk’s item. The tourist of Canada used to say that they knew about the Nepal form Nepali Bhancha Ghar. My friends also usually talk about the Gundruk. Now  Bhancha Ghar has expanding its branch all over the Canada. People used to put the tag as “Nepali Bhancha Ghar – Test of Himalayas” Now it is widely popular.

I forced to go through the website. The bricks used, the interior and the ornaments used to decorate the garden, all look like the Nepal’s product. I was delighted and I started to go through the food items. Special was about the Nepali – Daal, Bhat, Tarkari including Gundruk. There was other food items as well, Chinese, Indian and other. I went to the review part. The review of the Hotel was posted by the customer that has come to the Hotel.

The customer was explaining about the Gundruk, its look, test, and impact made by it. There were other comments as well and the customer loved the Daal, Bhat, Tarkari most of all. I went through the photo gallery. It was beautiful.

I started to imaging who the person is doing this great work. I could not find the person exactly. I started to search if I could know the person form the hotel in Canada. I could not find any. Then I went through the website again in the contact us. Instantly the message came as Nepali Bhancha Ghar is coming to Nepal after 2 weeks. This would be the promotional visit.

They were in Nepal and organized press meet. I saw Sapana Neupane speaking that we are expanding our Nepali Bhancha Ghar in other part of the world. We would like to open one here as which will work as information center as well.

I could not get the time to talk to her. I was surprised and also surprised to know as the General Manager of the Nepali Bhancha Ghar. I came to know that she went to Canada in dependent immediately after BBA. She dropped MBA and started Masters in Hotel Management in Canada. She completed Masters in 2013 and started to work on the Hotel there in Canada.

Great Karnali

I have started another project and it is social project. This project is designed to provide the communication and internet connection to the poor people of Karnali. Last year we distributed 10,000 laptops which was collaborative effort of university students from 12 different universities in US. Now this year we planned to provide the internet connection to them. This was targeted in karnali.

We started to study about the company and it’s CSR of all the telecoms, ISPs and few Nepalese organizations whose focus will be on internet connection. Out of all, NCELL was the one that provides 25% discount to those people who are so called marginalized.

On the other hand the bank’s investment in the CSR has been the computer training for those people who cannot pay. Standard Charter is currently providing the training in order to aware the people about the internet connection, e-banking, etc.

Now I thought about both NCELL and Standard Charter Bank. My objective was to provide the internet connection and already NCELL has 25% discount. I can push for more discounts. And for Standard Charter Bank I need to ask to invest in providing the connection not only the trainings. With the same theme I moved forward.

I prepared the basic objectives:

-          Agricultural training through internet
-          Education to old age people
-          Learning about the bank as a whole and focus on e-banking
-          Karnali as the major destination of tourist and internet for learning English language, home stay concept, e- trading among karnali people and promotion of karnali through individual as well

I had the project fund and I prepared the budget for 10,000 peoples. I had only 25% of the total required budget and made plan if NCELL gave 40% discount and 20% provided by the Standard Charter still 15% is left. So that 15% is required to pay by the individual who use the internet.

It was so easy to go to Standard Charter Bank. First I met the CSR manager. He knew all the objectives and he finally said the bank can only provide 10% fund but we can give trainings to those particular people for free. I argued for 20% then he started thinking about it. He said, “we need to consult to finance manager, or you can meet as well”

I was in Finance manager room but no one was there and CSR Manager said, ”Please wait for 5 minutes, she is in meeting”. I listened saying ‘she’ and became glad that female are also in good place here in Nepal. After a while she came. Formal dress and big person was I saw form far.

Oh My God!! She is Krishna Shrestha. (Four) I used to show my four fingers as GPA would be 4 in her 7th sem exam. She got 4 in 4 subjects. After she saw me she laughed. CSR manager was also there and I told the entire objective, after the few minutes of discussion. Her reply was, “ I cannot give the decision right now. We need to forecast many things. I will let you know very soon.”

After that I went to NCELL. Before a week also I was there in NCELL office and it was big enough. NCELL was able to expand the customers as well. Most people use NCELL these days. I talked about the 40% discount to senior officer and they said to talk to finance manager. They said they can do 30% discount not more than that, but I forced again. They said, “Finance manager was in regional finance managers meeting in Switzerland.” Today I directly entered in the finance manager’s room.

Guess what? Bipin Nakarmi was there in the seat of Finance Manger. And he was all the same in after 5 years also. We talked for a while and focused on the objective of the project. And Bipin said, “tha kaile sudherini bhaineish, jaile yestai kaam gar6.” And added, “ but ramro6 and mero full support 6, once let me discuss to senior of office.”

After a week we had a press conference and had a deal Karnali project, NCELL and Standard Charter jointly for the prosperity of Karnali.
NCELL- 40%
Standard Charter- 20% plus training
Funds by my project- 25%
By individual- 15%
Total – 100%
Press conference was nice and we had celebration at the end of the program.

Country Hotel

About a month later, I was in Kathmandu form US. Friends form there was planning to visit Nepal with me. During my free time in US they showed me all the places of US. I heard there is five star hotel established recently. So, I first targeted to visit there. I started to search in the internet about, “COUNTRY HOTEL”.

It seems very beautiful and also knew same investors are planning a private football ground and cricket ground as well. They planned to conduct the match between Australia and India after 3 years in 2020 as opening match. This will be the first international biggest event in the history of sports.

I find everything pretty and there is many good reasons to convince my foreign friends to visit Country Hotel. We were 8 in group. We hired a Micro bus, with a best quality, sound system, ac etc.

Road were made wide and fine. It was easy to travel. After 2 days of travel we reached the Country Hotel in Dhangadi. The construction was still not over. The very first day we were packed inside a room because it was too hot outside and we were looking forward for rest time. All the services were provided through the bottoms kept with the information. For the connections to get other services one computer were kept in the room with the internet and music system.

On the second day we went to visit the stadium that has been under construction, with one of the staff of the Hotel. I was curious about the foundation, which was unique and sat there for hours just talking about it with friends and the beautiful concept. After going back to hotel we went for swimming and the shape of swimming pool was made like the shape of Nepal.

The good thing about the hotel was we can either sit alone or have dinner or at 7:30pm all the senior staff will come together to have dinner. I had the strong desire to talk to the GM of the hotel. I took this opportunity and went there.

It was already 7:40 but GM was not there then I started eating. Just a few seconds later I saw tall, big, fat and with French cut beard and no hair in head and with KURTHA came nearer and nearer. Many stood up and said, “Good Evening Sir”. And then I knew he is general manager of Country Hotel, Mr Dinesh Raj Pant.

4.       He was in love affair with French girl, who studied together in University.
5.       He plans to invest in agriculture and interest in meat production.

U19 Asia Cup

I was watching the U19 Asia cup. It was final and the teams were Nepal Vs Japan. Till the half time there was no goal at all. The team Nepal was good in two aspects of football defense and midfield. There was poor performance in forward.
I could remember the football match between KMC and JMC that was held on our BBA. Oh! How can I forget Bishal getting 8 goals? At that time Shyam was captain me as team manager. I could remember how important it is to manage one team through different aspects like finance, food, materials and many more.
In the beginning of 2nd half Japan team scored one goal. Our captain Dev was aggressive and the team seems to be more attacking. At 68th minute Captain Dev scored one goal. The game was in Japan and broadcasted live in Kantipur Television. The Nepalese supporters were waving the Nepalese flag.
Again at 89th minute another goal by Nepali Captain Dev Rai scored 2nd goal. Now we were praying for time to finish. The additional time was 3 minutes after 90 minutes also. It was so hard to see 3 more minutes for Nepal only doing defense. The ball was in the legs of Japanese players and it was 92 minutes. The ball came to Nepalese player and gave long pass the ball was taken by again our captain Dev Rai.  It was golden opportunity to Nepal again because there was no one in defense of Japanese team. Dev Rai hat trick and final whistle.
Wow Nepal won by 3-1 in final of U19 Asia cup which has been the greatest win by Nepal so far. Nepal created the history. After the match was over I couldn’t see the distribution of the trophy and closing ceremony.
The day after they said there was interview with captain and Manager of the Team. The day was they returned to Nepal. I tuned the program. I was completely amazed and couldn’t believe Shyam Sundar Sonepa as Manager of the Nepali team. OMG what a great event and what a managing? I could just thank him and at the end of the interview he said, “we will win participate in world cup very soon and I am sure these boys will play in international league as well.” Finally he concluded by saying,” we have celebration party and everybody is welcome to Banepa where the recent National Stadium was constructed”.
With due respect I went there and meeting with him made me proud of something that I had never felt. Shyam still the same, talks to everyone and suggest people to do different things. Shyam was drunk a little and said, “ you know Pradeep, one day our team will play World Cup, Herdai Jau na.”

Facts:

1.       Shyam first managed the football team of Banapa which was U14 district cup tournament and won the tournament. Shyam also acted as coach even though there was other coach in the team. In every newspaper the Shyam was shown and different radio took his interview.
2.       Shyam was choosen as the manager of Banapa football team which started to play Nepalese league. For the first time playing the league it was in third position again Shyam was there in National channels. As soon as the season was over Shyam was called for Manager of U19 Nepali Team.
3.       Shyam had already married and had a son. He planned to make his son a footballer.
4.       He has started constructing big house in Banepa where the person who lost his family can stay and study for free and must have interest in football.
5.       Shyam himself also plays every day with the players which helped to know the weakness and strength of each player.

Pride of Nepal

Visiting my own county is pride. Ace travels have explored over the world and has played great impact in tourism promotion of the Nepal. One of the new places was explored by Ace travels. That is in Illam from the top of the hill we can see the lake together with mountains and nature. Ace travel also focused on its details that if there would be one good hotel so that tourist can stay for a long time.
The first trip was next month priced NRs 48,000 for 12 days. There were no infrastructures like road, electricity and others. We need to walk for 3 days and can return in 2 days. The plan made was to stay in that place for full one day. The very first day we need to go and stay in the hotel second day at Illam. In the third day we will move forward and in 5th day we will reach there the place is called as Ukeshor. We will stay there in Ukeshor for 6th day and walk down in 7th day. In the 8th day we will reach Illam and visit Illam for 8th, 9th, and 10th day. Only in 11th we will move to Kathmandu and reach in 12th day evening.
I started thinking of constructing Hotel. I talked to different people and they asked me to allocate how much budget it will take to make hotel at that place. They also asked me how will the travel agency help to take the tourists at that destination.
After a week I moved to Ace travel and asked receptionist to let me talk to the head of the organization. And she said sir is out of the country. I then booked the ticket for my trip even though my motive of visit was not only travelling but to know the feasibility of the constructing Hotel.
As I had talked to investors and they said to find the travels agency role. In Ace travels, I said, “I wanted to meet marketing manager”. The receptionist said the room is upstairs and I move up and out of the door written Marketing Manager. Before going up the lady called Marketing Manager if he is busy. Then I went inside the office.
Guess what? There in the chair of marketing manager Aseem Sharma was there in the clean saved look and he lost most of the hair of his head. He looks matured and I didn’t do Namaste but shake the hand. Mr. Sharma I called, and yes he said. He still didn’t recognize me as I had lenses in my eye not eye glasses. “I am Pradeep Parajuli”
Oh yes!!!
We talked for a while and I said about the plans and he said,” we do not directly invest in hotels but we promote the hotels if they are really required. We have forcefully done many promotions and we are successful till now.”He also added, ”for this place the investors form UK are also interested. These people are previously form Nepal.” I was delighted. Also he said,” they will be in the travelling in the coming trip there. 3 investors are there and one in female. They will arrive Kathmandu but 10 days before the trip.”
So it was almost done with the promotions and marketing of the hotel through one travel agency. Now the problem arises as others are also interested to invest or not. I started thinking about the two hotels now. But let me go to the trip first.
The day of travelling we were only 14 people to travel. Those 3 people, me , two are staff of the office, and 2 form the Netherland, 3 from Canada and rest from Nepal itself. Before the micro started Marketing Manager was there. Mr Sharma,” aati ramro 6 place chai ani talai arko surprise k cha bhane yo trip ma Ms Thapa, hamro class ko 6” I directly entered to the micro and saw Thapa je, OMG kali ta gori po bhaya6. Srijana Thapa is General Manager of the Delux Hotel in UK. She looked so beautiful. We talked so many things. She said “I am in UK and its been 3 years. Probably I will get PR this year as the provision has changed to high level officers. I am running one of the big hotels of UK. And I am interested to invest here in Nepal. So I am in this visit.” I shared the investors who wanted to invest there and she said,”  for the hotel I am thinking we are three here and we will be investing around 60% and one of our senior wants to work in Nepal and he will invest rest of the 40% and he will handle the management himself.”
The project seems to be bigger enough. We could explore many more things like the transit hotels and in the way side of the jungle small temple was there. There were many more things that can be done. Cycle path could be developed. So I discussed with Srijana and her friends.
We could find the need of other 2 hotels in the transit. As we were only to walk, there were carriers who carry our bags. Srijana proposed collaborative way of doing the business. Let’s open three hotels and two will be small but at the top Ukeshor will be the biggest. Srijana was in one month visit to Nepal.
Before departing she had a video conference with the senior Tom who was going to invest and run the hotel along with me and the investors of my group. We had come to result as all the three hotels will be running through collaboration, 30% my investor will put, 45% srijana and her group will put and remaining 25% by Tom. Tom will be back in Nepal within few months.
Thapa je will come to Nepal after she gets the PR and will work in Nepal and UK jointly. As she worked in Hotel she had enough knowledge about it. She has built the strong client relationship and will be able to bring many foreigners in Nepal.

Marketing Training

Before going to Harvard I had several discussions with Nepalese business man, professor, business journalist and my organization’s head and came to conclusion that there is high scope of Marketing and we need intense training program for marketing here in Nepal. It is because there is wrong concept of Marketing and sales person.
Before coming to Nepal I had stated my plans to my boss of Nepal that I am ready for the marketing training program which will be focused in every sector of Nepal and this is program for higher Marketing managers. I was studying about the progress of Nepal in the field of banking sector and came to know the name of Nepalese bank. Few names like Everest bank, Himalayan Bank, Machapupuchhre Bank etc were popular in International scenario. Few development banks like Trivini Development Bank, Kailash Development are being commercial Bank.
I was glad to know the NEPSE index 2850 and I could remember when Kiran Sir used to say the NEPSE index is just in the phase of 380,390 in those days when I used to read BBA. I had studied the marketing in product sector but the training was focused for marketing in financial sector so I started to study the situation about the finance company as well.
I have done my entire task. Along with me professor of Harvard is also coming to Nepal for the marketing training and in return I have to guide to visit Nepal. The program will be 7 day residential in Mountain valley resort located in Nagarkot.
We came to Nepal and let my boss said, “we are prepared, and tomorrow onwards we have the trainings.” I and my professor went early to see the resort and how we can easily let the participants feel more comfortable with resources and other things. The number of participants was 21 and my boss said that most of them are assistant marketing manager, marketing manager and CEO of finance companies.
Before starting the program the seat was predetermined for each individual. Few names are same as my friends when we used to study BBA. The program was nearly to start and at first 2 hours and our program introduction and the objectives will be illustrated by the organization’s staff and then Professor Mark will be dealing about what marketing is? And then my session will be the prospect of marketing in Nepalese financial sector.
I entered to the conference hall, I could see all people so smart and as rolled my eyes I could see Sudhan Raut written Sudan and Marketing Manager Trivani Bank. In few seconds I could see Bishal Sapkota and written Bishal and assistant Marketing Manager of Machapupuchhre Bank.
I felt quit nervous and exited to run the session. And I stared, “I am so happy to run the session where my friends are also here” Still Sudan and Bishal didn’t recognize me. I gave my introduction and they smiled. And it was around 2 years I had my hair uncut and no eye glass, gaining weight.
Sudan asked one more time,” can I get your introduction one more time?” I smiled and I said ,” Mr. Raut, I am pradeep and we used to read together in our bachelor level” He smiled.
I started the session and as soon as the session is over I talked to both of them. Both shared their experience and concern about the marketing. Even though Bishal completed his Masters in Finance he was interested in marketing and so he talked to his HR and became the assistant Marketing Manager. Sudan Raut got the job as soon as his BBA was over and did e-MBA via KU and became the Marketing Manager of the bank. We enjoyed every day and I became glad that I had meeting with friends initially after being back to Nepal.
Every day session used to end at 6:00Pm and we used to visit and go near the jungle. One day I asked permission from my boss and we went little down of Nagarkot and had small camp fire followed by cocktail party, BBQ and fun.

FITTER”S FITNESS

I started gaining weight more and more and I thought of maintaining my weight. The timing and proper diet was necessary but more than that I need to lose my weight also. Running was not enough for me, I was thinking to maintain body as well.
I started to search place where I can do physical exercise, make proper figure, swimming pool and get the proper diet to eat. Different people told different places and I am in search near to my home as well. One of the popular is FITTER”S FITNESS told by neighbor and I went Sitapaila to see it.
The entrance gate was big and inside I saw the area of garden was large and then the swimming pool. There was a hall and there was another hall in upper stairs. Up in the terrace there was small café and different other food item shop. I loved the place and I went inside the hall. The hall was divided into two parts. There was all the instruments related to the fitness and other room was completely empty. I could not understand and asked about the empty room. They told it was for yoga and dance.
I need to be the member of the FITTER”S FITNESS. The receptionist asked me all information as per the requirement. I asked about the number of the members of the FITTER”S FITNESS and she said they are around 1200 and most of them are regular. I thought 1200 is quit huge for the FITTER”S FITNESS. The receptionist said that I will be getting card within few days and I need to carry that card regularly. She added this card is the entrance card and barcode helps you to enter into these halls.
The upper hall was for the dance and different categories of dance were taught there. The timing was different according to the categories of the dance. I imagined that I would be the dancer as well but I didn’t register the name. I knew I won’t be doing dance. So I paid the fee Rs 4000, Rs1000 as membership and Rs3000 as the monthly fee.
The next day I went early in the morning and it was 5:00 am, I was there. I went inside the hall saying I will get the card in few days. There were already 100s of people doing the regular task. The master came near and said,”You must be new member, pradeep?” I said I am and he started teaching me the physical exercise. For the first day he said he will let me do few but important physical exercise.
It was Tuesday and the master gave me my card. I look the card and there was signature of the general manager Rekha Situala. I remembered my class mate Rekha. I was curious was she the one or not and asked to the master. He said She is slim and I said she is not the one. Wednesday morning master said, “   Today madam will come and I will introduce you”. She came nearer and I could find the similarities like height but she was thinner. I couldn’t believe that Rekha has loosed her weight and she is the general manager of the FITTER”S FITNESS.

Facts:
1.       Rekha was in US for the higher studies and she started going to fitness club. She became so passionate about the fitness and she was able to lose her weight. The owner of the club started to advertise her photo.
2.       She learned all the ways and procedures how to lose the weight. She was back to Nepal and could not find the place similar one and she thought to open her own. She contacted to the owner of the Fitness club in US and he came to visit Nepal as well.
3.       She asked to invest him few amounts here in Nepal. She also completed different dance classes in US and helped her to get everything about the fitness. She started with her own effort. She hired one male master for the male member.
4.       She was able to teach to female and motivate them. Over the period of 3 months she was able to get 200 members. Within a year she was able to run easily and hire employees.
5.       She has other 3 branches and she goes twice a week in each branch. The FITTER”S FITNESS has done a great. She is planning to open 10 other branches within 3 years ie. 2020.

Nabil Bank

One of the foreign students who completed his BBA in United States of America was planning to pursue his internship program in one of Nepalese bank. He got my contact and mailed me so that I can help him. All over again and again Nabil Bank was in my mind where he can do the internship. He was planning to work on developing country which is in South Asia.
His name was Jack and he will be arriving after a week. Now days for an internship program bank will take interview so he was necessary to come Nepal first. Nabil Bank has become the best bank in Nepal and has established its network in India and China.
The situation was a bit different than the usual. The foreign has not done the internship program so far. Now first I need to convince to the Bank about the Jack’s detail. Jack had sent me all his details and what he wanted to do in his life working in South Asian Countries.  I did mail to the Human Resource Manger of the Nabil Bank. The reply came as we cannot let the foreign people for internship.
I planned to meet HR manager once. Then I will be able to convince the things easily. I went to the bank directly and asked to meet them. Staff asked the purpose of my meeting and I said her everything. He said HR manager is out of valley for few days. Even assistant manager is not here today. If you come tomorrow you can meet assistant manager tomorrow.  Jack will be coming tomorrow and I said I will come the day after.
I said all things to Jack and the problem with the bank, was not the foreign student, but different culture of working process in other country and Nepal. The bank has already sent the details why they are unable to allow the intern program.
I along with the Jack went to the Bank the next day and went to assistant Human Resource Manager. She was female as I could see her from far and not so tall. I realized she was Ayusha Poudel. And she became the Assistant Human Resource Manger of the Nabil Bank. I was out of my mind and didn’t speak for a minute. I could remember the BBA days. Jack was surprised as I didn't speak for a while.
I told why Jack wants to do the internship program and why it is necessary for the bank also. She listened all and she also said HR manager already said no but I need to talk further more. Now the case will go forward I thought.
Jack had tough interview but he was able to convince the HR manager and Finance manager. He started his internship in few days.
Facts:
1.       Ayusha took all the risk that may happen with and by Jack in upcoming days in the bank.
2.       She had completed her MBA, specialized in Human Resource after completing her BBA.

5.       She was beautiful as always.

After an hour I went to Rosario Café, she was already there. She said, “I am the marketing manager of Vision study consultancy Pvt. Ltd.”
I said, “ Name of your organization is good”
She gave me a business card and came to know her name is Depti Rana. She ordered the lunch and asked if I was Vegetarian. I replied I am not.
She asked about my course and how was I able to be in Harvard. We had a long conversation. Depti talked about her organization. She said, ”Nepal is improving day by day and in this process of development our organization wants the Nepali student in excellent university of the world. As education is the foundation for the development of the country, we need to follow the same thing for the betterment of the country. So our mission is to let the students get the best education and develop our country.”
I replied, “Ya it is very true.”
She said, “If you agree then you need to help us. We are planning for career counseling, where you need to give speech of around 45 minutes about your experience and importance of the education in top university.”
I asked, “Who will be there, I mean students who wants to go abroad or other students?”
She replied, “ There will be around 250 students who are trying to go abroad for higher studies including our managing Director to focus on organization’s mission, and graduate from other university as well. I will be hosting the program.”
After few day later, I went to the program that was organized in Kamalpokhari and the hall name was Dream Place. I arrived at 10am. I was well prepared with power point slide. Then, it started up, Dipti called me. I was on the stage in front of 300 students probably. Mostly graduated BBA students.
As I was delivering the speech I saw class mate when were used in our bachelor level, Anjana. I became more confused when she sat on the chair of Managing Director. In front of the seat there was a table written Anjana and Managing Director. I became confused when I saw other surname in the that position.
The program was over by the speech of the MD Anjana. I could recognize the voice of Anjana and is still the same. The closing of the program was followed by snacks. Anjana came near and said, “k ho pradeep sir?”  We talked for a long and she introduced her husband, “he is my husband.” And she also introduced me to her husband.
Surprisingly she asked small child, “Pradeep Uncle lai Namaste gara.” The child was with her husband. And I knew that Amesh was son of Anjana. OMG what a day and I could never believed it.
